Checking structural integrity and component readiness

Checking structural integrity and component readiness

  1. Body and arms: check for cracks and kinks, clean off obvious dirt and dust. Check the folding mechanisms for damage or looseness.
  2. Propellers: check for cracks and chips; at the slightest damage, replace the propellers with new ones. Flying with damaged propellers is strictly prohibited, as it can cause strong vibration and a propeller coming off the motor, followed by a drone crash. Use only original DJI propellers. If the propellers are not removed from the drone when stored in the case, it is recommended to remove them and check the plastic L-shaped propeller stops every 5 flights.
  3. Motors: remove the propellers and spin the motors with a sharp flick of your fingers. The motors should turn with equal effort and a pleasant, soft, barely audible sound. Grinding, noise, crunching or ringing indicate a motor fault and require a visit to a Service Center for repair. The only thing you can do if dirt gets in is to try vacuuming the motors at maximum power. Using a camera air duster is not recommended, as it may push the dirt even further in.
  4. Gimbal with camera: make sure nothing obstructs the gimbal motors at start-up and that the camera lens is clean: no dust or fingerprints. If necessary, wipe it with a special cloth or a soft paper tissue.
  5. Batteries: check all batteries for damage and swelling, check that the contacts are clean and intact. Batteries must be fully charged before the flight! For more details see "Battery operation and maintenance"
  6. Memory card: check that there is enough free space for the aerial survey. Use only high-speed UHS-U3 Micro-SD memory cards. It is recommended to have several memory cards* for the drone on hand during the aerial survey.
  7. VPS system: check that the lenses of the vision positioning system are clean and intact. The front and rear wide-angle cameras are especially prone to contamination.
  8. Remote controller: check the remote controller battery level, the presence of the removable control sticks and the integrity of the folding antennas. Check that there is enough free space in the remote controller's internal memory, for example for screen recording.
  9. RTK GNSS antenna*: check that the PSDK connector is clean, the screws are intact, and the housing has no cracks or damage.
  10. Power supply and Hub*: check the integrity of the cables and USB Type-C connectors, check that the Hub contacts are intact and clean
