The kit consists of an airborne part attached to the drone and a ground part. The airborne part is based on the tBeacon Onyx search beacon in a TOPODRONE branded case (hereinafter the «Beacon»). These Beacons do not depend on mobile network coverage, are light and compact, and offer several search modes: by GPS coordinates, by radio direction finding (or Proximity mode), and a repeater mode for searching for a lost model from the air. For close-range search the Beacon has a loud buzzer and a bright LED. The ground part can be a Baofeng UV-5R radio (hereinafter the «Radio») or a tBeacon Findy S. receiver.
The Beacon is mounted on the quadcopter body with plastic latches. The plastic mount is specially shaped to avoid interference with the drone's GNSS navigation module. After the Beacon is switched on and initialized with a call command from the Radio, it reports its current coordinates by voice message.
The Findy S receiver is a compact device in a plastic case with a screen, buttons, a USB Type-C charging port and a built-in 1300 mAh battery. It can be used standalone or connected to an Android or iOS smartphone, and allows establishing radio contact with the Beacon and determining its location, speed, altitude, distance to it, etc.
