The main goal of high-precision aerial photography is to get sharp, well-exposed images and high-precision photo center coordinates. The latter is achieved through the TOPODRONE Upgrade KIT working together with the camera and post-processing. However, the camera image settings are set by the drone operator directly during field work.
If the original photos have wrong settings, the final images will have motion blur, noise and blurred near or distant objects, which are hard to notice during shooting itself.
Data with wrong camera image settings cannot be post-processed correctly.
Do not edit the photos with any image editing software. Any changes to the photos degrade the final data accuracy.
Setting up the camera image means setting the main shooting parameters according to certain recommendations:
- Focus. Focusing on the ground with a fixed value is recommended. Autofocus is not recommended.
- ISO, or sensitivity. Values at which no digital noise appears in the images are recommended.
- Shutter, or exposure time. Values at which no motion blur appears in the photos are recommended.
- Aperture. Values at which no depth-of-field effect appears are recommended.
- Exposure, or exposure compensation
- Image format and aspect ratio
- White balance
