Overview of training course for precise aerial survey, conducted in Joensuu, Finland
Topodrone team together with FORGIS OY on March 11 - 13, 2019 carried out a training course on UAV survey in Joensuu, Finland.
The participants of the event were representatives of Finland University in Turku, Sweden University of agricultural Sciences, as well as surveyors of other research organizations from Finland and Republic of Costa Rica.

All three days of the seminar were full of theoretical and practical classes, as well as lively discussion and exchange of experience. During seminar, students received theoretical knowledge and practical vital skills in conducting high-precision UAV survey, post processing of GNSS data, photogrammetric adjustment of image blocks, reconstruction of highly detailed three-dimensional terrain models as well as multispectral data processing
On the first day we demonstrated in the field how to work with Reach RS+ GNSS receiver for RTK survey, GCP collection and to use as a base station.
Next we performed UAV survey with DJI PHANTOM 4 PRO PPK over the test site and finally we came back to the office to process data. All steps of data processing such as PPK processing, photogrammetry processing and accuracy estimating we performed.

Our students were able to see in practice the advantages of UAV precise survey with Topodrone equipment, which allows to convert your images to precise 3D model and orthophoto without using of GCP with an accuracy of about 2 cm in plan and height. The quality of the model construction was evaluated by the pre-measured control points.
A separate time of practical training was devoted to the study of multispectral data processing technology for monitoring forests and crops.
On the final third day, we held a presentation and test flights of the new TOPODRONE product – VTOL fix wing with vertical takeoff and landing, designed for high-precision mapping and monitoring of large areas and having the ability to perform vertical takeoff and landing in cramped conditions.

Topodrone team sincerely thanks our partners FORGIS OY and all participants of the seminar for open communication, interesting questions and positive atmosphere!
