# Working distance

The scanning range of the TOPODRONE SLAM 100 laser is from 0.5 m to 120 m.

1. Minimum working distance. Point cloud data cannot be obtained within 0.5 m of the sensor, so in small rooms increase the distance to the scanned surface to avoid missing data.
2. Maximum working distance. The laser can measure about 120 m at a reflectivity above 60%. Since the SLAM algorithm requires a high point cloud density when collecting data in the field, keep objects within 50 meters. Although data can be obtained at 120 m, its density may be insufficient for SLAM calculations.
